We offer 24-hour care for all residents with Registered General Nurses present at all times. A unique personal care plan is prepared for each resident and it is reviewed regularly. All information, data and records relating to residents remains confidential and is protected. Visits to the dentist, optician and physiotherapist are arranged when required.
Palliative care, or end of life care, is care where a recovery from illness is not expected. At Southcare Homes we understand how upsetting this final stage of life can be for everyone. We offer compassionate and sensitive care.
Choosing a care home for someone with dementia is always difficult. At Southcare Homes, we keep finding ways to make our homes more dementia-friendly and can help you by sharing our experience, built up over a generation.
We are proud of our recent COVID-19 Assessment Report from CQC, acknowledging how our residents have been “supported to maintain contact with their family through video calls and social media” and recognising the hard work and effort we put in each day to keep our residents safe and healthy.

Hello, I'm Finlin
Registered Nursing Care Home Manager
Freshford Cottage Nursing Home
I have been in nursing for over 25 years, qualifying as a Nurse and Midwife in 1993, and later specialising as a Theatre Nurse. I sadly lost my mother when she was only 67 and it was around that time that I became interested in caring for the elderly. I wanted to offer support and compassion to those going through a stage in their life where their health and well-being becomes fragile. I joined Freshford Cottage in 2015 and my Masters Degree in Management helped me support my team. I understand that a happy team results in happy residents and I’m always striving to improve the quality of care for my residents and their families.
Fresh by name, fresh by nature.
Freshford Cottage is all about fresh air and fresh ideas for our residents. Our most recent venture involves partnering with Cycling Without Age and giving our residents free rides along the coast in a tricycle-cab, known as a ‘trishaw’. We love helping our residents have new adventures, showing that there’s still plenty to do in your autumn years.
